Our Chiropractic Process

On your first visit

  1. An initial consultation will be performed: During this process we will discuss your lifestyle, your medical, health and family history. We will take time get to know you to find out if Chiropractic care will be suitable for you. You will not receive an adjustment on this visit. If our consultation evaluation suggests that you are a likely candidate and may be helped with chiropractic care, we’ll need to perform a more thorough examination.
  2. Chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological evaluation: This includes a physical palpation of the spine while performing specific movements. We will check your ability to turn, twist, bend and move key joints through their expected range of motion. We’ll test your dermatomes, deep tendon reflexes, muscle strength and other aspects pointing to the health of your nervous system.
  3. X-Rays. Depending on what is found in this examination we may require you to get some X-Rays taken to help locate any bone abnormalities, fractures and reveal your spine’s current phase of spinal decay. We can arrange this for you.

On your second visit
There will be a ‘Report of findings’ from your initial consultation and examination. A personalized schedule of care will be proposed that is specifically designed to match your needs. A tailored care plan will be recommended for you to follow with useful self help guidelines and tips so you can achieve great results and reach you health goals. You will receive your first Chiropractic adjustment on this visit.

Regular visits
A regular visit takes approximately 10-15 minutes. The corrections are gentle and specific adjustments to help support and improve spine and nervous system function. Each adjustment builds on the one before to gain stability and encourage healing. After a week or two people sense improvement and as your spine stabilizes visits will be required on a less frequent basis.

Safety:
A New Zealand government study found that adjustments are “remarkably safe.” By avoiding drugs and risky surgery, chiropractic care enjoys an excellent track record. A thorough exam can identify the rare person for whom chiropractic care might be unsuited. Compare the statistics. Adjustments are about 100 times safer than taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.
